Camping Under the Stars with Bedouin Adventures

When was the last time you went "adventure" camping? When did you last sit round a campfire and watch your meal being prepared?

Join us to sample traditional Bedouin food, hear traditional Bedouin tales and relax after an adventure-filled day on our camel or hiking safaris. Sit under the vast canopy of desert stars and forget all the stress and strains of city life. Let the vastness of the open space, the majesty of the heavens and the inviting
aromas of dinner cooking evoke a sense of wonder as your experience traditional Bedouin hospitality.

Make a wish as you see a shooting star, knowing that tomorrow will be
another unforgettable day in Wadi Rum.

Awaken in the pre-dawn light, enjoy traditional Bedouin tea or coffee with your breakfast as you watch the splendor of a desert sunrise and prepare for the day’s activities.
Our Desert Safaris are fully equipped to ensure your every comfort. We provide tents with sleeping equipment, mattresses and blankets but we ask our guests to bring their own sleeping bags. Three meals per day, drinking water and washing water are provided on all excursions. Our trips are hiking and trekking trips, and we do not use cars except to carry your luggage and the camping equipment to the various camp sites.

On arrival at each camping site we will make tea as we set up camp. Our guests will be fully involved in setting up camp, choosing their pitch and generally making sure of their own requirements. Then as part of our Bedouin tradition everyone will help collect dry wood for the campfire.                                       As part of your desert experience we will teach and explain some of the different life skills that make up the Bedouin experience. On the first night you will learn how to make Bedouin coffee on the campfire and the correct etiquette in serving it to others. The second night we will demonstrate how to prepare Bedouin bread (Arbod) and to cook it on the fire.
The third night we invite our guests to split into two groups, the men in the first group who will prepare the coffee; the women in the second group who will make the bread. This is in keeping with traditional Bedouin practices.

On these and subsequent nights we will share with you many aspects of our traditional lifestyle, including some basic language skills which form part of our Bedouin hospitality. We will also entertain you with Bedouin tales, music and songs. We also have Bedouin clothing available for purchase if you wish to have a complete Bedouin experience – we sell this clothing at cost to our desert guests.

When comparing Bedouin Adventures with other tour companies, we ask you to note:
Our tours are private – we do not join your group with others (unless you request it). We want you to have a true and genuine Bedouin experience exclusive to your group.

Our camping spots are not at established sites – we will select our locations daily based upon the activities you have chosen. These will be in special places that we know; sites that are protected from the wind and enjoy a good view of our beautiful landscape. There is no electricity at our sites so guests may want to bring a small torch.

Our tours are supported by a mobile kitchen where we cook simple dishes for our guests to sample. Our Bedouin hospitality is enjoyed around the campfire in the evenings, while the main meals are prepared by the kitchen staff.
